March 02 How to add Videos to your Space and blogsThere are multiple ways to play video's on your space. you can play them using various gadgets, media players, html modules and in your blog entries. This is the easiest way to get your video onto your space. I am sure there are many other ways, but they can be complicated and may require extra codes. First, Choose the type of video:
Video on your computer:Create an account and upload your video to one of these video sharing sites:
(Skip the part below and continue reading from Step: 2 if you are carrying out this option) A Video online:Video's online can be found using search engines and then obtaining their URL/ Link. But these days most of the video's found online are on video sharing sites such as: Also you may find them on other sites and all of these sites give you an embed code to the video. Copy this code as show indicated in the picture above, we will use them later.
Step: 2 - Now...Where do you want to play your video?
On the front page of my Live Space:There are many ways this can be done:
All the Above gadgets and video modules have a border or title on them. To change it or get rid of the module follow the instructions below which I did for a HTML module which are similar for the above. The HTMl box displays the Html title by default. You may not like it. If you want to change the title or even make the background dissapear so that you can use the box to dislay banners with out the obstructing border and background. Click on the customize link on the right hand top corner and select Rearrange or hide modules from the drop down menu (again).
Note:- All of these gadgets and players can be put anywhere on the front page of your space. The video size will vary according to the gadget position and the layout of your Space.
Add video's in one of my blog entries:
Note:- If it does not take your Code. Click the HTML button in your blog editing tools and then paste your code. Click on the button again to get out of the html editing mode and after making adjustment to your video. Publish your blog entry.
Done!I hope this step by step tutorial was easy to follow. It got quite complicated and I had to edit it a lot. Any feedback or improvements are welcome! - Dev
